Challenges you will work on
As Ground Fleet Manager, you will play an important role in developing, optimizing, and standardizing our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) fleet across Scandinavia, with primary focus on Copenhagen (CPH) and overall responsibility for coordination and equipment management across our three main hubs: Copenhagen (CPH), Stockholm (ARN), and Oslo (OSL). This is a varied and impactful role where you will combine strategic planning with close operational collaboration in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
You will help ensure that the right equipment is available to support daily operations safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while also contributing to long-term fleet planning and continuous improvement across the region. Working closely with suppliers, authorities, operational teams, and internal stakeholders, you will support the balance between operational performance, compliance, sustainability ambitions, and financial efficiency.
The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Scandinavia, contribute to improvement initiatives, and support the ongoing development of ground operations at SAS. From electrification initiatives and low-emission fleet transitions to data-driven optimization and new technologies, you will be part of shaping more efficient and sustainable ground operations for the future.
The role reports to the Head of Ramp Services in Copenhagen and works closely with leadership teams across SAS Ground Handling.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Support and develop the Scandinavian GSE fleet strategy aligned with operational needs and future growth
- Lead fleet planning, equipment acquisition, redeployment, and retirement activities across the region
- Oversee and coordinate GSE across SAS’ three main hubs – CPH, ARN and OSL – with primary operational focus on Copenhagen
- Ensure high equipment availability and operational readiness to support daily ground handling operations
- Drive standardization and continuous improvements across equipment, processes, and ways of working
- Monitor fleet performance, utilization, downtime, and lifecycle cost through data-driven follow-up
- Collaborate closely with operational teams, suppliers, procurement, and external stakeholders
- Manage supplier and maintenance provider relationships, including commercial and procurement discussions
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, certifications, audits, and insurance processes
- Support sustainability initiatives, including electrification and low-emission fleet transitions
- Explore opportunities within new GSE technologies, automation, and operational development
The Team
The position is based in Copenhagen and works in close collaboration with local teams in Stockholm and Oslo. Together, the Scandinavian teams are responsible for ensuring operational readiness, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, sustainability targets, and best‑in‑class safety standards across all ground handling fleet assets.
To be successful, we believe you have
- Experience from aviation ground operations, fleet management, GSE, or other operationally intensive environments with high demands on coordination, availability, and delivery
- Strong understanding of equipment, asset, or fleet operations within complex and fast-paced environments
- Experience managing multi-country or global operations
- Proven track record in strategic and contract negotiation
- Strong analytical skills with experience using fleet management systems
- Key knowledge of financial follow-up and budget
- Fluent in English spoken and written
- Education in engineering, Aviation Management, Supply Chain, or related field is an advantage
