CATEGORY MANAGER IT
Category Manager IT
Are you someone who thrives on structure and enjoys being at the heart of operations? Do you have the skill for connecting the dots and making things happen? If so, the Category Manager IT role might be the perfect fit for you!
Set into a role as Category Manager IT where you are an integral member of the dedicated IT Procurement team within SAS Procurement organization.
In the role as Category Manager IT, you will be responsible shaping sourcing decisions across the wider IT landscape, in close collaboration with fellow IT Category Managers to ensure alignment, synergies and a consistent sourcing approach across all IT categories.
Beyond strategy and long‑term planning, the role also involves hands‑on, operational procurement work; from managing day‑to‑day supplier interactions and supporting ongoing purchasing needs to ensuring smooth execution of processes and resolving operational issues as they arise. This combination ensures you stay close to the business, the stakeholders and the realities of the IT environment.
Challenges you will work on
In this exciting and dynamic role, you will oversee a primary IT category, ensuring that strategy, sourcing decisions and supplier relationships create long‑term value. You will tackle the intricate task of balancing category ownership with the flexibility to support additional IT categories, all while operating in a rapidly evolving and fast‑moving industry.
As the main point of contact for your category, you will coordinate with cross‑functional stakeholders. Your ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders will be crucial.
The Team
You will be part of a high-performing team composed of talented professionals from various backgrounds. Our team values collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence. We support each other and thrive on creating a positive and inclusive work environment where everyone can succeed.
To be successful, we believe you have
• The ability to work in a structured, organized and proactive way, even in a fast‑moving environment
• A solid understanding of IT procurement, sourcing strategies, supplier management, contract governance and SLAs, and how to apply these effectively in the role
• 8 + years proven experience taking responsibility for IT sourcing projects, RFI/RFP processes, contract negotiations and category strategies, with a strong track record of seeing initiatives through to completion
• The ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, building strong relationships and contributing to shared goals
• Confidence in making decisions related to supplier selection, negotiation strategies, category prioritization and sourcing recommendations, and taking ownership of outcomes
• A positive and growth‑oriented mindset, with a commitment to learning, continuous improvement, feedback and collaborative ways of working
• Strong skills in strategic negotiations, stakeholder management, analytical problem‑solving and contract management
• A Master’s degree in IT, business, finance or supply chain — or equivalent relevant professional experience
• A commitment to working from the office four days per week
