CHARGES MANAGER
Description
Are you passionate about aviation economics, cost optimization, and regulatory frameworks? As a Senior Charges Manager, you will play a key role in managing, analysing, and optimizing airport and infrastructure-related charges across the SAS network. Working closely with commercial, operational, and financial stakeholders, you will help ensure cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making that supports SAS's operational and financial performance.
Challenges you will work on:
The Senior Charges Manager plays a key role by managing, analysing, and optimizing all airport and infrastructure related charges that affect the SAS operations and cost base. This includes charges from airports, air navigation service providers and government or regulatory bodies. This role ensures that these costs are accurately forecasted, compliant with regulatory frameworks, and optimized through strong commercial and analytical work.
Main Tasks
• Analyze, forecast and oversee all airport, navigation, and infrastructure charges, including landing fees, ATC fees, passenger charges, and security charges.
• Monitor regulatory developments (EU, ICAO, national authorities) and ensure compliance with relevant charging frameworks.
• Represent SAS in airport consultations and relevant industry working groups.
• Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives and process improvements related to user charges. Advise internal stakeholders on revenue optimization to maximize profit.
• Support or lead negotiation processes related to user charges.
• Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely forecasting, budgeting, and reporting of all user-charge cost items.
The Team
The Senior Charges Manager role collaborates closely with key internal stakeholders, including Finance, Network Planning, Operations, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to ensure accurate forecasting, compliance, and cost optimization. The role provides essential cost insights for route planning, budgeting, pricing, and supplier negotiations.
Internal Collaboration
• Finance: forecasting, budgeting, cost allocation.
• Network Planning: route profitability and planning inputs.
• Operations: operational impacts on charges.
• Procurement: negotiations and supplier management.
• Regulatory Affairs: monitoring regulatory developments.
• Commercial & Revenue Management: cost drivers influencing fare structures.
External Collaboration
• Airports and ground handling partners – tariff discussions, fee updates.
• Regulators and industry bodies (e.g., IATA, EU regulators) – regulatory monitoring and compliance.
To be successful we believe you have
• A university degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field.
• Experience working with financial analysis, procurement, cost management, or similar commercial roles.
• A strong interest in aviation and an understanding of how airline operations and cost structures work.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work confidently with large amounts of financial and operational data.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using analytical tools to support decision-making.
• A commercial mindset with a focus on identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Experience preparing for or participating in negotiations and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• The ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive initiatives from analysis through implementation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics in a clear and understandable way.
• The confidence to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including airports, regulatory bodies, suppliers, and internal business teams.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

• Position: Fulltime (100%) starting with a 6-month probation period
• This position is based in Frösundavik, Solna (Stockholm), and you will be expected to work onsite. Remote work may also be an option, depending on the agreement made with your manager.
