We are looking for a Crew Schedule Optimizer

Join SAS Resource Management - an essential part of our operations - where we manage scheduling and staffing for up to 800 daily flights. What You’ll Be Working On

As a Crew Schedule Optimizer, you’ll use a cutting-edge optimization tool developed by Jeppesen to design crew rotations and schedules for our pilots and cabin crew. You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to set goals and guidelines, all with the aim of creating efficient, high-quality crew schedules that support both operational excellence and crew satisfaction.

Depending on your background and experience, you will enter the role as either a Junior Crew Schedule Optimizer or Crew Schedule Optimizer. Should you start as a Junior, you might be eligible for a promotion once you’ve gained confidence in the role and completed at least 12 planning cycles - typically equivalent to one year of experience.

From there, your career can progress in two directions, depending on your interests:

  • Team Lead – For those who wish to develop leadership skills and take on more responsibility within the team.
  • Senior Crew Schedule Optimizer – For those who want to deepen their expertise in optimization and strategic planning.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop schedules for either cabin crew and/or pilots, focusing on transparency, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Plan line training and checking activities, ensuring high productivity while maintaining a robust and reliable schedule.
  • Support ongoing efforts to improve work-life balance for crew members while maintaining safety standards.
  • Use our optimization software to manage cost parameters and enhance schedule quality.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments and with external partners.
  • Analyze data to improve processes, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Participate in traffic program optimization and forecasting to strengthen operational robustness.

What we are looking for:

  • Education: A university degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, economics, data science, logistics, or similar).
  • Skills: Comfortable working with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Languages: Fluent in one Scandinavian language and proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Mindset: Curious, analytical, and eager to learn.

Bonus Experience (Not Required)

  • Familiarity with Boeing/Jeppesen CMS (Crew Management System).
  • Previous experience in aviation or crew planning.
