Facillity Engineer

About the Role

SAS is seeking an experienced Facility Engineer with strong technical expertise in construction engineering, building systems, and technical installations—combined with solid project management capabilities.
This is a hands-on, operational role based primarily at Arlanda, with responsibility for supporting and quality-assuring SAS’s facility engineering activities across the Nordic region. You will collaborate closely with external FM partners, contractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our facility assets.

Challenges you will work on: 

In this dynamic and hands on role, you will take ownership of ensuring that SAS facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in line with both regulatory requirements and internal standards. You will manage complex technical questions, evaluate building performance, and drive improvements across our Nordic locations.
As the main technical point of contact, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external FM partners, and contractors—coordinating activities, guiding technical decisions, and ensuring alignment across all parties involved. Your ability to navigate technical details while keeping a clear overview will be key to success.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Building Technology & Maintenance
•    Assess and define requirements for building envelope measures including roofs, façades, and waterproofing
•    Review and follow up on maintenance plans for SAS facilities and technical systems
•    Ensure compliance with external regulations and SAS internal technical standards
Technical Installations
•    Set requirements and review performance of ventilation, HVAC, and related technical systems
•    Act as technical client representative towards contractors and suppliers
•    Participate in technical inspections, reviews, and mandatory ventilation control (OVK) follow-ups
Project Management & Construction
•    Lead or support construction and refurbishment projects
•    Ensure quality, cost control, and timeline adherence
Supplier Management
•    Support and quality-assure deliveries from FM partners and contractors
•    Identify opportunities to internalize competence or optimize contracted services
•    Act as technical reviewer in deviations, change requests, and follow-up meetings

Structured, thorough, and comfortable working with both technical detail and operational realities. You have a strong sense of order, the ability to manage complex technical matters independently, and the confidence to set requirements and follow up with suppliers and contractors. You combine an analytical mindset with patience, process orientation, and a strong drive to deliver high quality results.
You likely have a background in engineering, construction technology, technical property management, or similar fields, and you are skilled at navigating building systems, technical installations, and stakeholder coordination. Formal education is valuable, but equivalent professional experience is also considered.

 

Requirements and Qualifications
•    University degree in construction technology, installation engineering, property management, or equivalent relevant experience
•    5–8 years of hands-on experience in technical property management or construction project management
•    Solid technical understanding of building envelope systems and ventilation/HVAC, as well as maintenance planning
•    Experience setting requirements and evaluating performance of external suppliers and FM partners
•    Proven ability to independently lead and deliver technical projects
•    Ability to obtain an approved security clearance (Swedavia/Transportstyrelsen)

Meritorious
•    Experience working in airport, transport, or infrastructure environments
•    Knowledge of FM agreements and supplier management
•    Familiarity with Nordic construction regulations and standards (PBL, BBR, AFS)
•    Project management certification (PMP, IPMA, or equivalent)

•    Structured and methodical – you appreciate maintenance plans, checklists, routines, and clear follow-up. You work in a way that creates order and reliability.
•    Communicative – you can translate technical requirements into clear language, whether you’re speaking with contractors, FM providers, technicians, or management.
•    Self-driven – you take initiative, push issues forward, and work independently without needing detailed steering.
•    Business oriented – you understand the importance of optimizing costs, ensuring value for money, and making smart decisions in supplier agreements and operational delivery.
