Head of Regional Aviation Security

Do you want to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and operational integrity of Scandinavia’s leading airline? Are you motivated by independent work, high responsibility, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders?  If so, we currently have two available positions that may be of interest: Head of Regional Aviation Security – Sweden and Head of Regional Aviation Security – Norway.
Both roles also include serving as Duty Security Officer.

 

On behalf of the Head of Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Head of Regional Aviation Security Norway & Sweden has the authority and mission to:
•    Ensure implementation of the SAS Security Program (SEC) in Norway and Sweden.
•    Ensure compliance with company security measures and procedures.
•    Cooperate with authorities, airports, and other airlines to establish effective local security procedures.
•    Serve as Duty Security Officer (DSO) as part of SAS’s 24/7 security response structure.


This is a key role within SAS’s security organization, requiring strong judgment, leadership, operational awareness, and the ability to make decisions under pressure.

Challenges you will work on

•    Conduct security inspections of company facilities, stations, passenger terminals, crew layover stations, aircraft, and subcontractors.
•    Monitor through internal inspections that the SAS Security Program (SEC) is implemented according to standards.
•    Act as the Head of Security’s point of contact with national aviation security authorities.
•    Participate in regional airport security committee meetings.
•    Chair the cross-functional RSG-N (Regional Security Group Norway) and RSG-S (Regional Security Group Sweden) meetings.
•    Assist regional contractors in fulfilling their part of the SAS Security Program.
•    Promote security awareness regionally.
•    Ensure all reports related to suspected or actual unlawful interference are reported to STOG3.
•    Coordinate the distribution of security information.
•    Manage, coordinate, and conduct local internal and external exercises with STOG3.
•    Participate in G3 Safety Action Group (SAG) meetings.
•    Coordinate regional crime prevention activities.
•    Serve as administrative contact for police and migration authorities regarding immigration cases, document control, deportees, non-compliance fines, and persons in lawful custody.


Duty Security Officer Responsibilities (24/7 rotation)
•    Act as the primary internal point of contact for security issues and incidents across SAS.
•    Assess incoming threats.
•    Maintain contact with authorities relevant to SAS Security.
•    Initiate security measures when needed.
•    Disseminate relevant security information across the SAS Group.

The Team

You will collaborate closely with the Head of Aviation Security, AOC Security Managers, STOG3, STOOL, central functions, airport authorities, police, and various internal SAS departments. While part of a coordinated security structure, you work with significant independence and responsibility.

To be successful, we believe you have

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aviation industry, ideally within operational functions or with equivalent hands-on experience in an aviation organization.
• Broad understanding of airline operations and operational processes.
• Ability to work on both tactical and operational levels, and to shift effectively between the two.
• Proven managerial experience and strong adaptability in a dynamic environment.
• Diplomatic, analytical, and solution oriented approach to problem solving and decision making.
• Strong communication skills, particularly in matters related to safety, security, and regulatory compliance, both internally and externally.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple levels and functions within an organization.
• High personal integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and good stress tolerance.
• Fluency in English and at least one Scandinavian language.

•    This position is based in Frösundavik, Solna (Stockholm), and you will be expected to work onsite. Remote work may also be an option, depending on the agreement made with your manager.
