Head of Shop & Fulfillment


The Head of Shop & Fulfillment is a leadership role responsible for the end-to-end digital development and integration of SAS’s airline shopping and fulfillment capabilities within Digital Customer Solutions. The role leads a cross-functional team of developers, engineers, product owners, and QA professionals, ensuring the successful delivery of microservices and digital infrastructure supporting customer-facing channels such as web and mobile. The position plays a central role in managing both onshore and offshore delivery teams, with a strong focus on Amadeus and airline technology integrations, solution engineering, and high-quality technical execution.  

Challenges you will work on:

 

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of microservices supporting flight shopping, booking, payment, ancillaries, and fulfillment journeys. 
  • Ensure robust integration with Amadeus web services via PSG and other airline technology platforms. 
  • Oversee development planning and execution of APIs to support multiple product channels including web and mobile apps, ensuring consistency and reusability across platforms. 
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and architects to align technology strategy with business goals and customer needs. 
  • Establish and maintain technical best practices, secure development, and scalable architecture in line with SAS standards. 
  • Manage day-to-day operations and team capacity across onshore and offshore developers, ensuring high performance and continuous delivery. 
  • Provide strong technical leadership and coaching, inspiring developers and engineers toward continuous improvement and innovation. 
  • Champion agile ways of working, effective sprint planning, and cross-team collaboration to deliver high-quality outcomes. 
  • Monitor platform performance, customer impact, and system reliability, driving improvements as needed. 

 

Responsibilities and mandate:  

  • Accountable for the overall technical execution and delivery within the Shop & Fulfillment domain. 
  • Responsible for leading solution engineering efforts and ensuring high-quality integration with airline systems and services. 
  • Empowered to make resource and process decisions in alignment with digital leadership and strategic goals. 
  • Responsible for ensuring security, accessibility, performance, and regulatory compliance of developed solutions. 
  • Responsible for partner offshore developer hiring process and talent acquisition 
  • Mandated to define and improve development practices, architecture decisions, and team workflows. 

 

Communication and Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate actively with Enterprise Architects, Digital Product Owners, UX/UI, QA, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and shared goals. 
  • Manage the coordination between onshore teams and offshore Virtual Captive Center, enabling seamless collaboration and shared ownership. 
  • Interface with external airline tech providers, especially Amadeus, to optimize integration and maintain up-to-date capabilities. 
  • Represent the Shop & Fulfillment area in strategic planning and technical steering groups. 

To be successful we believe you have

 

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, including 3+ years in a leadership role managing cross-functional technical teams. 
  • Bachelor or master's in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in airline e-commerce or travel technology, especially working with Amadeus and similar providers. 
  • Strong background in designing and delivering microservices-based architectures at scale. 
  • Experience managing distributed development teams, including coordination with offshore teams and external partners. 
  • Hands-on experience in solution engineering, systems integration, and full-stack development is highly valued. 
  • Strong technical expertise with the ability to guide architecture, solution design, and delivery across backend and integration layers. 
  • Deep understanding of airline business processes including shopping, offers, booking, payment, fulfillment, and servicing. 
  • Exceptional leadership and team coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop both senior and junior engineers. 
  • Skilled in agile methodologies, backlog planning, performance monitoring, and delivery optimization. 
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management abilities. 
  • Culturally aware and adept at working across international and remote teams.

  • This position is based in Frösundavik, Solna (Stockholm), and you will be expected to work onsite. Remote work may also be an option, depending on the agreement made with your manager. 
  • Travel to development teams at offshore partner expected 1-2 times per year.
