Lead Developer
Loyalty Solutions and the feature team EuroBonus Commercial Development & Partnerships at SAS Digital & IT is looking for a Lead Developer.
What you will work on:
As Lead Developer your main responsibilities will be to:
- Lead end-to-end technical development, with a primary focus on frontend technologies.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of robust, scalable, and secure applications.
- Define and maintain a long-term vision and roadmap for applications within the technology stack, in alignment with domain architecture.
- Together with the Product Owner, align application strategy with business objectives, user needs, and evolving technology trends.
- Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices including use of AI, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation.
- Ensure all applications comply with relevant regulations, security policies, and industry standards.
- Champion strong cybersecurity practices throughout the application lifecycle.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of critical systems.
- Oversee and continuously improve application performance monitoring, observability, and alerting.
- Participate hands-on in development to support teams in solving complex technical challenges.
- Promote the use of modular, maintainable, and reusable code to increase development efficiency.
- Elevate software quality by advocating best practices, conducting code reviews, and facilitating knowledge sharing.
- Act as a coach and mentor for both offshore and onshore development teams, fostering collaboration and shared ownership.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence across the development community.
- Ensure disciplined use of tooling to achieve effective communication, documentation, and traceability across the product lifecycle.
The Team
You will be part of Loyalty Solutions within SAS Digital & IT, and specifically the feature team EuroBonus Commercial Development & Partnerships (ECDP). The team develops and maintains most EuroBonus products and services available to our 9M+ members, including online member pages, partner integrations (credit cards, car rental, hotels, and more), and SkyTeam Alliance loyalty integrations. The team also provides backend services to internal IT teams, enabling their product roadmaps — from award trip booking engines and member validation to much more.
We are looking for someone with strong experience in:
- Node.js and TypeScript
- React.js and modern front-end web application frameworks
- RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Spring Boot in microservice architectures
- Database technologies such as MsSQL, Postgres, Cosmos DB, and MongoDB CI/CD pipelines and build tooling (Docker, GitHub Actions)
- Infrastructure as Code — Pulumi and/or Terraform
- Cloud platforms and container orchestration (Azure, Kubernetes)
- Performance optimization and cross-platform front-end development
- Micro-frontend architectures
Experience with tools including:
- Git / GitHub
- Github wokflows
- Azure Cloud Platform
- Kubernetes
- Pulumi, Terraform
- Docker
- K9s
- Contentful
- Kibana, Grafana
- mono repo architecture
- AI workflows and optimizations
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 5 years of proven professional experience within software development and operations.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in software development within airline loyalty programs or similar domains.
- Good knowledge of the airline industry and airline technology.
- Prior experience in a senior development lead or mentoring role.
- Strong coding skills and knowledge of modern development tools and practices.
