Manager, LINE/BASE Maintenance Planning

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Continued Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) is a team of over 120 people accountable for the continuing airworthiness of the aircraft fleet. It performs a wide variety of tasks including negotiating and managing supplier contracts, engineering, planning, and managing operations.

 

CAMO – Base Maintenance Planning Manager

 

We are strengthening our organization and are looking for a suitable person for a role of Base Maintenance Planning Manager.

 

As Base Maintenance Planning Manager you will be reporting to Head of Maintenance Planning. You will be responsible for ensuring that maintenance is planned in an airworthy, safe, and economical condition for SAS's fleet under restriction of the requirements imposed through European Aviation regulations and according to EASA Part-M, Part-CAMO, Part-145 and Ops.

 

Your responsibility is to manage base maintenance planning activities and ensure technical representation for base maintenance operations. You will lead a team of experts, that will deliver on all aspects of maintenance planning, from airworthiness control and monitoring, preparing maintenance work packages - including component and engine replacements, planning of individual maintenance tasks – consisting, but not limited to, of maintenance program tasks, airworthiness directives (AD), modification campaigns, deferred defects, to post-production activities.

 

Being successful in this role requires previous experience from commercial air transport, continued airworthiness management tasks, safety management system(s), and leadership of personnel and performance management. The knowledge of the nature of the operation and the fleet type(s) operated by SAS is beneficial. In the role you need to be able to collaborate with key stakeholders like Fleet Management, Network, Procurement, Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Organizations and Operations Control Center.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure that maintenance is planned in an airworthy, safe, and economical condition in compliance with the regulations imposed through EASA Part-M, Part-CAMO, Part-145 and Ops and National Aviation Authority
  • Employee responsibilities with annual performance reviews and development planning
  • Perform process confirmation and development of planning procedures laid down in operation governing manuals CAME and CAME-P
  • Participate in the preparation of the department and maintenance budget
  • Participate in the maintenance service provider (AMO) tender processes and ensure the execution according to agreed terms
  • Secure maintenance ground time for maintenance events
  • Ensure that all maintenance is performed in accordance with the approved maintenance data
  • Ensure the operational availability of aircraft fleet through strategic and tactical planning activities
  • Ensure planning of deferred defects within set time limits
  • Host and participate in governance meetings between stakeholders and sharemen
  • Ensure development and timely updates of long-term maintenance visit plan
  • Ensure maintenance package optimization in view of aircraft lease contract conditions and lifetime cost optimization
  • Ensure proper functioning of all planning staff and related issues by assessments and continuing process confirmation.

Qualifications and experience

 

  • Academic education – undergraduate degree from within an engineering field (BEng, BSc), or other relevant background from the aviation industry
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in an appropriate management position
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within continued airworthiness management organization
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within aviation industry, preferred from commercial air transport
  • Experience of practical leadership with a minimum at a tactical level
  • Experience in team leadership and development
  • Practical experience of managing large contracts with suppliers and internal stakeholders, with associated budget processes and cost saving programs
  • Practical experience of business transformations and change management
  • Practical experience of working with AMOS maintenance information management system (MMIS)
  • A high proficiency in English, both written and oral, a knowledge of a Scandinavian language is a benefit, but not required.
