Powerplant Engineer
SAS Technical Operations is a dedicated team of 100 professionals responsible for ensuring the ongoing airworthiness of the SAS fleet. Our work spans a range of essential tasks, from negotiating and managing supplier contracts to engineering and planning maintenance activities.
Within this structure, our CAMO Engineering team plays a key role in implementing maintenance and regulatory requirements, monitoring fleet reliability, and managing the aircraft maintenance budget of the aircraft and engine types. SAS Engineering department includes 50 members working closely with with the rest of Technical Operations, Flight Operations, Network Planning, Fleet Management, Finance, Aviation Authorities, Suppliers, etc. to deliver on-time and sustainable air travel.
The Engineering department within CAMO is looking for an experienced and motivated Powerplant Engineer to join this dynamic organization and a highly reputable flag carrier. The right candidate will have the skills and personality to fit within a small, multi skilled team that is responsible for the continuing airworthiness, safety and reliability of the aircraft and components in line with the manufacturer recommendations and the regulatory requirements. In addition, a Poweplant Engineer continuously contributes to improve SAS products and processes with cost saving initiatives to help our service in a complex and demanding environment.
Challenges you will work on:
As a member of the Powerplant team, you will work on various engine/APU and nacelle/TR types, including LEAP, TRENT, IAE, XWB, and CF34. The focus is to maintain the Continuing Airworthiness, safety and reliability of engine/APU and its components in line with the manufacturer recommendations and the regulatory requirements. You will work close with all teams in SAS CAMO as well with SAS Part-145 department. Your should possess analytic driven nature and have experience to draw conclusions from data driven facts, you should have experience working in a similar operational environment and will have safety as your top priority, with sound judgement in both technical and financial matters.
As a Powerplant Engineer at SAS, you will be:
- Evaluation of continuing airworthiness and maintenance related tasks.
- Short- and long-term engine fleet planning.
- Analyze and monitor Engine Health Monitoring activities.
- Engine / APU / TR/Nacelle repair management.
- Handling phase-in and phase-out of engines and its components.
- Administer/ review engine related contract proposals/agreements, warranty claims etc.
- Ensure effective and timely coordination/implementation of planning and project control functions required for engine related projects.
- Ownership of a significant maintenance budget, including cost control and forecasting.
To be successful, we believe you should have:
- University Bsc/BEng or Msc. degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Relevant experience in aviation/airline engineering within Powerplant (aircraft types A320/A330/A350/E190/E195 and/or B737).
- Minimum of 3 years demonstrative work experience with CAMO Powerplant engineering.
- Knowledge of EASA Part-M and Part-145 regulations.
- Skywise experience is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in English – both verbally and written.
- Strong skills in IT systems and tools.
It is also meritorious if you have direct experience within:
- RR TRENT/XWB Engines
- AMOS MMIS system
