SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
Join SAS Crew Systems Support & Analytics – Help Shape the Future of Airline Crew Planning
At Crew Systems Support & Analytics, our mission is to enable efficient and seamless crew planning across all SAS Group airlines. We provide analytical expertise and system support to key areas such as Production Platforms, Network Planning, Industrial Relations, and strategic initiatives. By managing and developing our Crew Management System (CMS) (provided by Jeppesen) and related tools – we ensure SAS maintains world-class crew optimization capabilities.
Purpose
We operate much like an internal service provider, supporting multiple platforms within the SAS Group. This means we have a unique responsibility to identify synergies and streamline planning processes across the organization.
We’re now looking for a Systems Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll help ensure our CMS continues to support the needs of the business today and evolve to meet the challenges of tomorrow. You’ll work closely with colleagues in Airline Operations, SAS IT, our external development partners, and the Union Agreements team to drive improvements from idea to implementation.
You’ll have the chance to:
- Work with advanced planning and optimization tools
- Influence how SAS manages its crew operations end-to-end
- Contribute to modernization efforts that will shape the future of airline planning
- Focus on areas that match your own interests – such as optimization, business development, or system enhancements
The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and full of opportunities to grow. Flexibility and teamwork are key – the workload may vary, but you’ll always be supported by your colleagues.
This is a role with both responsibility and reward. You’ll gain deep insights into airline operations, build specialized skills, and be close to the decisions that matter
Main areas of responsibility
- Drive development and tuning of CMS. SAS is today using Manpower Planning, Crew Pairing, Rostering and Tracking. Present ideas and convert into system solutions.
- Implement union agreements in CMS by writing development specifications for our system development partner, and testing developed functionality.
- Participate as expert in development of operating procedures and best practices in Crew Planning.
- Support SAS Crew Planning on technically complex issues that cannot be solved within the Crew Planning organization.
- Keep SAS Crew Planning up to date on system development – educate and present when relevant.
- Provide input to union agreements from a system perspective and ensure that negotiated deals can be implemented in CMS.
- Work together with SAS external system development partner: Define necessary development and provide specifications. Decide on priority of development. Ensure high quality of delivery.
- Coordinate and lead meetings and workshops with other airlines for knowledge building activities and knowledge sharing
Qualifications and experience
We place great importance to your personal qualities and are looking for someone who wants to grow together with SAS.
To succeed in this role, you are structured, meticulous and detail oriented while maintaining the ability to see the big picture. You have the capability to work independently, take responsibility, and to think alternatively to reach solutions. You must cope with both stress and large workloads at times. Ability to communicate and collaborate is a must, along with a god dose of humor and a supportive attitude towards your colleagues.
In this role you will have an edge if you have a solid experience from Jeppesen portfolio and have a vision for software quality and process efficiency. You will need to be proficient in communication (written and spoken) in English and while it’s no demand, it is positive if you master one of the Scandinavian languages. Knowledge of Linux systems, experience of coding in RAVE and Python is an advantage.
